Middle School Bon Fire
The 4th Annual Bonfire for students entering grades 6-8th will be held Sunday, September 6th from 6 -7:30 PM. There will be games, snacks, a bonfire, and fellowship with peers. If you would like to volunteer to chaperone or donate water bottles or snacks, please fill out the “Yes, I Can Help” form. Contact Heather Shipley for more information
Annual Church Picnic
Save the date for our annual Church Picnic on Sunday, September 13. This fun event will be held after the service, outside in the upper church parking lot (rain will move the event inside). Bring a side or dessert to share, and a comfy seat – a camping chair or blanket. The church will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, all the fixings and drinks. Please come for food and fellowship.
Family Movie Night
We are having a “drive-in” movie Saturday, August 22nd in the grove area next to the upper parking lot. The movie is expected to start around 7:15 PM and admission is free! There will be snacks available for purchase starting at 6:45. More details to come, but reserve the date now and invite some friends! See you there!
2026 Vacation Bible School
Calling all preK- 5th graders! Join us for our Ecumenical Vacation Bible School hosted at the United Methodist Church of Gales Ferry August 3rd - 6th from 5:30-7:30 daily. Dinner will begin at 5pm. Questions? Please contact Joanne Moorehead at QuilterJAM@aol.com.

Mission Trip
SUMMER MISSION TRIP: The Mission Trip will be July 5 – 11 in Salem, Maine working with the United Methodist Economic Ministry (UMEM). We will help with home repair projects in this rural area of western Maine. The first deadline is April 26 for registration. Registration forms are available in the office and on the table outside the office.

Epic Day of Service
FOOD PACKAGING EVENT WITH LEDYARD ROTARY: Ledyard Rotary Day of Service will be May 16 in Koe Hall. The Serving team is looking to put together a UMCGF team to work that day. There are two shifts, 8:30 – 9:30 and 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. They will have volunteers doing the meal packing and it is open to all ages. We will be preparing meal packages of dry goods. More information on sign-up will be coming soon!
Mother's Day
MOTHER’S DAY: We are inviting all ladies to wear a hat! The Worship Team will be hosting a “loan a hat - borrow a hat” event on Sunday morning from Joy’s office. If you have an extra hat, you may drop it off at the church office any time before Mother’s Day. There will be a drop off spot following worship in Joy’s office for you to return your borrowed hat.

Christmas Caroling
SAVE THE DATE for Christmas Caroling
Sunday, December 21
Picture all the traditional holiday movies, books, and Christmas cards featuring a group of fancy dressed, joyful singers in the snow. Have you been caroling in Gales Ferry before? There is no costume required, just be comfortable and warm. Snow is optional, caroling in the past has even been around raindrops. Sharing the joy of the season is what it is all about.
Carolers will gather at 4:00 pm and run through the set of songs used which are simple, one verse, familiar, and appropriate for all ages. Jingle bells are provided, of course! Families will drive from planned house to house in Gales Ferry, sing from the front lawns, and return to the church for crockpot soup dinner. For further information contact Joanne Moorehead.

Turkey Soup Luncheon
SAVE YOUR CARCASS: Please join us for our Turkey Soup Luncheon after church on Sunday, November 30 where we’ll turn Thanksgiving leftovers into a feast for all! We need your help to make our famous turkey soup! After you’ve enjoyed your Thanksgiving meal, don’t toss that turkey carcass! Please drop off your carcass at the church by Friday, November 28. There will be coolers left in the breezeway for easy drop off. Looking forward to fellowship and enjoying a warm delicious meal made possible by our wonderful congregation!

Fall Clean UP
Fall Cleanup Day is here! Join us on Saturday, November 8, as we roll up our sleeves, tidy things up, and enjoy some great company while we’re at it.
We’ll kick things off with breakfast at 8:00 AM, so come hungry and ready to dig in before we get to work. There’ll be coffee, pancakes, and plenty of good conversation to get us fueled up for the day.
One of our big projects this year is taking down a few trees in the playground area, so if you’ve been looking to stock up on firewood for those cozy winter nights, this is your chance! Anyone is welcome to take home some of the wood. There will also be a long list of other items, both indoors and outside, to join in on. Plenty to do and all ages are welcomed so bring a friend or two with you!
